It is the announcement every South African rugby lover has been waiting for – another story that captures the heroic efforts of our Springbok rugby team.
Following the success of winning their third World Cup in 2019, SuperSport in collaboration with Springbok rugby produced a five-part documentary that captured the true essence, backgrounds, and achievements of the 2019 Springbok team.
The documentary not only gave fans a front-row seat into the Springbok changing rooms but also gave people an inward look at the challenges our men in green and gold had to endure.
Additionally, stories such as Makazole Mapimpi’s, gave others hope and reinforced the idea that we can stand to overcome the odds because we are stronger together.
With the Springboks re-writing their names in history yet again, fans are in for a treat as SuperSport announced that the journey continues with Chasing the Sun 2.
The news was announced via the sports broadcaster’s official social media pages.
The caption read: “Here we go! #ChasingTheSun2 confirmed for 2024 🇿🇦🏆💚”

Given how difficult this year’s route to the final was compared to 2019 in Japan, viewers can certainly bank on content that exceeds expectations.
Meanwhile, with veteran Deon Fourie winning his first World Cup at age 37, and Canan Moody (20) being the youngest winner in the team, there is a possibility that viewers might hear about their experience as well.
Fans in the comment section were eager to share their excitement.
One user wrote: “Cannot wait. Already watched the first one at least 30 times.”
Another added: “I’m not ready to cry my lungs out, because season 1 made me weep 😭😭😭”
While another user jokingly added: “Feel like you missed the opportunity to call it ‘Chasing the crois’sun’t (croissant).’”
Regardless of what it’s called, every South African would want to be tuned when part two hits our screens in 2024.
