Radio personality Thabo Molefe popularly known as Tbo Touch has stood in agreement with Australia’s decision to ban children under the age of sixteen from using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
The country’s local publication, News.com.au, reported that the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, made the announcement last Thursday. In his speech, he highlighted that the content shared on these platforms was causing harm to children.
Additionally, he also highlighted that major tech companies are responsible for enforcing the new age limit, and should they fail to do so, or children manage to slip through the cracks, they would be issued a hefty fine.
The news publication, Reuters, further reported that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese highlighted how the constant use of social media by minors poses serious physical and mental health risks.
He aims to protect girls from harmful depictions of body image, and the misogynist content aimed at boys.
Meanwhile, he plans to give tech companies a year to try and work out plans on how they would enforce the age restriction limits on their platforms, thereafter strict measures will be put in place.
Taking to the social media platform Instagram Tbo Touch applauded this new law that will soon be in process.

Tbo believes that many other countries should follow Australia’s lead and start bringing about change.
He wrote: “My heart goes out to the children of this generation. They’ve been robbed of their innocence with some explicit sexual & violent content online, hence most young people are not content with themselves. It’s never enough, because someone out there can display themselves better.”
Concluding his post, he added: “It’s a difficult assignment for parents too, we can learn from the Australian government and combat this escalating rate of teenage suicides and cyber bullying. Viva Australia.”
