Multi-award-winning singer Thandiswa Mazwai is eager to end the year 2024 on a high note, as she prepares for her final show of the year on home soil.
The year has been quite a busy, yet successful one for the Eastern Cape-born singer. This comes after she made her debut appearance on the YouTube channel, Tiny Desk and celebrated 20 years since the release of her first solo album, Zabalaza.
The last two months she has spent a considerable amount of time touring at shows abroad in Europe and America.
In an interview with news and entertainment publication, Citizen News, Thandiswa previously revealed that she was excited about performing to international audiences. At the time she compared what it was like performing to a new audience outside of South Africa adding that the shows she performs at overseas are usually more intimate crowds which motivates her to adapt accordingly. She also explained that the crowds don’t always sing along word for word as they would do in South Africa.
Meanwhile, with international travels now having come to an end, it is time to shift her attention to mzansi where she is set to perform at a Thanksgiving concert in Pretoria this Saturday.
Speaking to TshisaLive she explained that the purpose of the show is to show gratitude to all those who have stood by her side throughout this journey.
“Everything begins with gratitude. We all have to open our eyes to what is good in our lives even as we struggle through some adversity. I am doing this show to give that to uMdali (the creator), my family, my friends and supporters, for having stood by me and being the wind beneath my wings,” she said.
With next year marking 30 years of being in the industry, she adds that she wants to be remembered as someone who willingly offered her gifts as a service to others.
