Thando Thabethe, Boity Thulo and Nhlanhla Mafu all expressed their gratitude on social media after receiving a prestigious award at the second annual Basadi in Music Awards.
The event, which took place on 12 August at the Joburg Theatre, shines a light on female talent and achievements in the music industry.
“The spirit of the awards is to uplift, celebrate and showcase just what women can achieve when given the platform to shine,”explains the awards show on its website. “We will also honour generations of women who played heroic roles in the liberation of women in the country, the continent of Africa and the world at large.”
Among those who were honoured included media personalities Thando Thabethe and Boity Thulo, as well as musician Nhlanhla Mafu who served as recipients for the non-voting category CEO Mosadi In Business Achievement Award. Thando for Thabooty’s Underwear and Shapewear, Boity for Be You By Boity and BT Signature and Nhlanhla for NN Vintage.
Taking to Instagram, Thando wrote, “We did it‼️‼️‼️ Thank you to ALL the amazing women that own even just ONE pair of @thabootys. My baby is nothing without you, your support makes all of this sooo worthwhile. ??.”
She continued, “Thank you to the incredible team behind @thabootys for helping me take my brainchild to even greater heights. You all make the hard work, sacrifices and sleepless nights all the more worthwhile. Business is not a walk in the park, but what an incredible journey I’ve had with @thabootys ?. It has taught me that it’s ok to fail…simply rise up and try once more…black girl your dreams are VALID ‼️‼️‼️”
Thando concluded, “We turn 7 next month and cannot wait to continue to change the world ‘one booty at a time’ ???.”

Boity also took to Instagram to share how grateful she was for the honour. “Thank you so much to @basadiinmusicawards_sa for this phenomenal recognition and not only that but for partnering with my brand @btsignature as a partner of the awards.”
