Many took to the internet over the weekend to express their heartfelt condolences and to pay tribute to radio personality Cliff Nhlamulo Hlungwami, who was professionally known as DJ Mulo.
The YFM radio host’s family and friends confirmed his death via a statement on social media. The statement revealed that DJ Mulo passed away peacefully on Saturday, 16 December in his Bryanston home after his battle with cancer.
“We know that he has touched many lives and has brought endless joy to those around him,” said his loved ones.
Expressing gratitude, the statement continued, “We would like to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for all the love, support, and prayers that have been coming our way. We were truly blessed to have experienced a wonderful soul like his, and will forever remember him.”

Paying tribute to the late deejay, award-winning broadcaster Mpumi Mlambo shared on X (formerly Twitter):
“Iβm extremely heartbroken about Mulo. I mean EXTREMELY heartbroken. Nobody deserves to be taken out by cancer but MULO DID NOT DESERVE THIS ! He dedicated his life to his career, wife, family and friends. Yoh Iβm gonna miss the phone calls and the pure conversations.”

She then added, “People who are loving, caring and compassionate die so soon. And those are the people this world needs. We need people who lead with love and compassion. Mulo put me on, encouraged me, told me hore (that) things are going to be Ohk and he inspired me to be better.”

Media personality Dineo Langa wrote on Instagram, “ππππ You fought valiantly Mulo. Go with love and fly with the angels. My deepest condolences to Ntokozo, your son, family and loved ones. Rest the guy, the world is poorer for your loss πππ.”
One Instagram user commented, “Oh Muloβ¦ ππππππ What an incredibly devastating loss. Iβm so sorry, man.”
While DJ Sbu said, “Damn Mulo. Sad news. Rest in Peace my brother. Deepest condolences to your family and loved ones. You were such an amazing guy.”
