The theme of this year’s Cotton Fest was about multiplying the legacy of Ricky Rick, who passed away a year ago due to suicide.
Cotton Fest was founded by the late South African rapper and fashion influencer Ricky Rick, his aim for the event was to bring together different genres of music, basketball court for ballers, ramps for skating enthusiasts and exploring new fashion trends.
Rikhado as popularly known by her fans and industry friends, was full of life with no limitations in how he lived his life, Mome, who was one of his close friends shared a lovely message remembering her friend.
“Yesterday was a hard pill to swallow, in my heart I wished to hear “ok ok let’s do it like this …. Im blessed to have witnessed your growth from the 21 year old Rikhado to the loving father, Partner and brother. My day 1 Each day I’m learning to understand that life will no longer be the same till we meet again my brother, Pretty Ricky ❤️? I’m hurt Makhado.”
Rasta, who is known as a celebrity portrait painting artist, had a display of paintings to commemorate the late Ricky Rick’s life:

This year’s music line-up included South African A-listers such as Grammy Award winner Black Coffee, A -Reece, Casper Nyovest, Focalistic, DJ Maphorisa, Young Stunna, Sjava, Stilo Magolide, Musa Keys, Pabi Cooper, DBN Gogo and many more.
The headlining MC was former rapper and award winning style icon, Moozlie, who regarded herself as a head girl in a classic fashion theme of cotton fest Class of 2023:

In respect of Rikhado, Robot Boi who performed at Cotton Fest also shared a message that “We need to look after each other more…LIFE isn’t easy but by LOVING, PRAYING & WORKING together we can Hold It Down.”
