Since becoming a two-time Rugby World Cup winning captain, the Springbok player Siya Kolisi’s career has instantly been elevated to the next level.
The teams’ successive victories at the 2019 and 2023 not only meant the world to South Africans, who at the time had been challenged with several economic and socio-political setbacks, but made him an iconic global figure. Not only has he now become well respected in the sports world, but it has also been allowing him to brush shoulders with the who’s who of both sport and entertainment.
In a more recent post, the Springbok captain, who now applies his traits at the French club Racing 92, shook hands with another iconic sporting figure – David Beckham.
The pair attended an NBA basketball match where several other sporting figures were in attendance. Some well-known names worth mentioning includes French football player Kylian Mbappe as well as retired Brazilian football player, Ronaldo (not to be confused with Cristiano Ronaldo).
The video of the two sparked a social media frenzy as followers saluted Siya for the strides he has made in his career.

Beckham is not the only high-profile celebrity that Siya has been spotted with. Here is a list of more celebs that the Bok captain met since winning two World Cups.
Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool
Despite being a rugby player, the Springbok number 6 has made it no secret that he is a big soccer fan, with the English side Liverpool being his favourite team.
Following the Boks’ third World Cup victory in 2019, Siya not only met their coach Jurgen Klopp but also the entire Liverpool team, and occasionally links up with some of the players from time to time.

The American comedian travelled to South Africa to perform in Cape Town for his Reality Check comedy tour.
In attendance were some of Kevin’s biggest supporters, the Kolisis. Siya made sure to give Kevin his very own Springbok jersey as a souvenir.

Gerhard Butler
Those who are familiar with the movies 300 and Olympus has Fallen should be no strangers to the Scottish actor Gerhard Butler. After successfully defeating the Scotland rugby team in 2021, Gerhard welcomed Siya and snapped a picture with him in the locker room.

Roger Federer
The two first met in 2020 when Roger came to Cape Town to play at the “Match in Africa”- an exhibition match to raise funds in aid of education and athletics programmes for children in Africa.
Since then, the duo have had a long-lasting friendship. Roger was also in attendance at the World Cup Final in France.
With all these superstars lined up, it is safe to say that Siya has officially become an international rockstar.
