Mpumi ‘Mrs Mops’ Mophatlane, star of Showmax’s new reality series The Mommy Club, squashed lingering rumours that she cheated on her husband, IT businessman Lenamile ‘Mr Mops’ Mophatlane.
The rumours were previously addressed at The Real Housewives of Johannesburg (RHOJ) season one reunion in 2020, another show Mpumi was a star of. Her RHOJ co-star Brinnette Seopela alleged that Mrs Mops was being unfaithful to her husband and was constantly on the phone with other men.
In the first episode of The Mommy Club, the cheating allegations were brought up again when Mrs Mops was in conversation with fellow cos-star Tshego ‘Ms Manche’ Manche.
Ms Manche said, “There’s something I wanna ask you and I hope it’s not awkward … Remember that time when you had an acquaintance or friend? And she made accusations about you. How did you feel about that? About the cheating.”
Mrs Mops responded, “You know when you’re in the limelight, people say things about you that are not true. It’s just so bad. I was so taken aback by this acquaintance of mine … I’ve been married the longest in my group. I have been married for 15 years, and I’m a dedicated wife and a mother. And that’s something I take pride in.”
The reality star then shared that she found being accused of cheating “extremely hurtful.” She added, “It comes from people who are jealous and bitter.”
Calling it “false accusations,” Mrs Mops then said, “It was not true. It was never true, and I am still married, happily so.”
