The panellists participating in the much-anticipated Roast of Pearl Thusi are eager to take to the stage and fire all their shots.
Earlier this month, the prominent actress and television host was announced as the latest celebrity to appear on Comedy Central’s host. Fortunately, she is no stranger to the show; she previously appeared as one of the panellists at the roast of the late Kiernan “AKA” Forbes in 2019 and knows all about what she can expect from her industry peers.
Pearl said in a statement released last week: “Returning to the Roast, this time as a roastee, I’m looking forward to having fun in the hot seat and giving as good as I get. If roasters think they will get me to squirm, they have another thing coming.”
With 2024 officially seeing her enter the hot seat, news and entertainment publication IOL has now reported that some of the panellists for this year’s edition have officially been revealed and are rearing to get involved in the occasion.
Those looking to bring their A-game on the evening include many of mzansi’s most intimidating figures such as the ever-serious former Idols SA judge Randall Abrahams, David Kau, Zodwa Wabantu, Busiswa and Farieda “Pharoahfi” Metsileng.
Meanwhile, Zodwa has promised to bring her A-game.
“I am bold and unapologetic in what I do, and I recognise the same traits in Pearl. We are both tough cookies who can give as good as we get.”
“However, that doesn’t mean I’m going to hold back when the chips are down – she is fair game and must not expect any special treatment from me!” she said.
David Kau meanwhile has vowed that on the day things will get spicy.
The event is set to take place on 21 November at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre and will be broadcast on Comedy Central on 8 December.
