The countdown to the 30th annual South African Music Awards (SAMAs) is officially underway. However, this event, which was once one of the most exciting and highly anticipated in the country, has garnered some concern over the lack of promotion and anticipation from event organisers.
This year, the SAMAs will mark 30 incredible years of being integral to Mzansi’s music industry at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand. Mere days before the event is to take place, Mzansi has raised its eyebrows regarding the hype that the coveted awards show once carried.
According to some users, event organisers have done very little to create peak enthusiasm by taking advantage of the resources at their disposal such as radio and television. Furthermore, these users believe that this year’s event specifically deserved more hype than what was given, considering they are celebrating their 30th anniversary. Users expressed how they were not even aware that the Awards ceremony was even taking place this weekend.
The SAMAs has extensive access to TV, Radio, and could get on any online platform they want. They are celebrating 30 years, the entire month of October should be about them but Nooo, we find out about them 2 days before 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

The coveted awards announced popular presenter Minnie Dlamini as this year’s host, and even then, the SAMA organisers have not made a big enough deal over this, considering Minnie’s social status.

It appears the organisers can do no right with Mzansi as they also revealed their line-up of DJs that will be setting the mood right for attendees on the night of, however, Mzansi is not impressed by Wanda Baloyi making the cut with most citing that the opportunity could have been given to a more experienced individual.
