Over the weekend, Big Zulu was defeated by businessman and entrepreneur Phumlani Njilo, in one of the most talked-about matches in the past three months, held at the Oliver Convention Center (OCC).
Prior to the fight, both individuals talked about what they would do to their opponent, but it was Phumlani who was able to put his words into action and walk away with the victory.
Big Zulu had claimed that he would be lenient in the first round to study Phumlani’s strategy before knocking him out, but unfortunately, he was unable to find his groove and fought according to Phumlani’s terms.
Now, with the dust settled, Big Zulu is giving his version of the showdown. Although he admitted that the 30-year-old’s strategy to keep moving around the ring was something that tired him out, he added that there were moments of foul play.
“Maybe I don’t know boxing rules but this guy stamped on my feet many times and he was not cautioned,” said Big Zulu.
“I could not land my punches properly. Anyway, congratulations to him because clearly his strategy to frustrate me worked for him,” he said to the publication Sunday World.
Meanwhile he later took to Instagram, sharing a clip of the fight he wrote:
“Greetings 🙏🏿I would like to first thank my brother Njilo for saying he won🙏🏿but he ran and caught my foot for 4 rounds🤷🏿 ♂️ay not even 1 point was taken for keeping my foot up🤣there’s no way that he fought well 🤣Thank you to everyone who was there to support🙏🏿and his church was there thank you🙏🏿.”
