The controversial video promoting South Africa as a top tourist destination has been released after months of anticipation. Despite initial objections, mixed reactions have been received.
In a video initially by MDN news on X (formerly Twitter), one of Mzansi’s favorite sons Trevor Noah proudly invites tourists from all over the world to come and visit the beautiful country as he boasts the country’s diversity and all the adventurous attractions there are to experience and enjoy.
The video shows Trevor answering all of the common questions asked by tourists and later introduces them to a wealth of activities including shark cage diving, paragliding, hot air ballooning, bungee jumping and many more.

While a handful of tweeps were unimpressed by the video saying that it lacks cultural diversity and was more a promotion of Cape Town – others admitted to liking his approach and thought it was the complete opposite.
One user wrote: “It’s such a beautiful ad 🫠😚 Really captures some of the beauties of this beautiful country. With all the negativity and politics consuming our minds, this is a refreshing perspective of our country. Love it. You love it?”

Cape Town is promoted more in this AD, it lacks the cultural effect of SA.

Despite being among some of our proudest exports, Trevor previously received a lot of backlash from fellow citizens in recent months.
This comes after allegations that the 39-year-old was offered a whopping R33 million “in taxpayers’ money” to feature on a five-minute promo to endorse South Africa as a top tourist destination.
While many South Africans would like to see Trevor excel, the news was shocking to many in a country which is currently still struggling to keep itself afloat.
Upon his return home for his recent comedy tour that took place in August and September, Trevor addressed the rumours on the 702-radio station and dismissed the claims of being offered R33 million as inaccurate.
Instead, he admitted he was approached to do a video that would help attract tourists to our beautiful country but denied the compensation being that high.
“First of all, there is nothing with SA tourism. No one from SA Tourism approached me; there’s nothing from the government,” he added.
He explained that he is not involved with SA Tourism but rather with a private organization that represents hotels and Airbnb accommodations.
Meanwhile, today was also another big day for Trevor as he recently launched the first episode of his first ever podcast – What now? With Trevor Noah, which is currently on spotify.
