Award-winning comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane sadly passed away on Friday at 31, his agency confirmed.
Known for his sharp wit and offbeat humour, Ebenhaezer made a significant mark on the comedy scene, becoming a beloved figure in South Africa’s entertainment industry.
Ebenhaezer’s journey to fame began when he won the ‘Savanna Comics’ Choice Newcomer of the Year Award’, a milestone that put him in the spotlight.
His talent continued to shine as he claimed another ‘Savanna Comics’ Choice Award’ for Intermediate Comedian of the Year, alongside two other nominations.
But Ebenhaezer’s creativity didn’t stop at the stage. He was also nominated for a SAFTA Award for Best Achievement in Scriptwriting, earning recognition for his sharp writing and unique comedic voice.
“To those who knew him, Ebenhaezer was more than just a comedian; he was a friend, a source of joy, and someone who could always be counted on for a good laugh,” his agency said.
The Dibakwane family has expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support they’ve received during this difficult time. Details regarding memorial and funeral services will be shared in due course.
Tributes continue to pour in from all corners of the country, a testament to the lasting impact Ebenhaezer had on everyone he met.
