Grammy award-winning singer Tyla is back on the music scene with a self-titled album.
In a recent interview with streaming platform Apple Music, the pop star said, “The roots of my sound are in amapiano music, in South African and African music.”
The 14-track album released under her record label Epic Records, which is a division of Sony Music Entertainment, includes her Grammy award-winning hit single Water, and also the remixed version featuring American rapper Travis Scott. Other artists include the likes of Becky G, Tems, Gunna, Skillibeng and South African DJ and producer Kelvin Momo.
Although Tyla announced that she would cancel her world tour and Coachella performance due to an unbearable injury, the countdown to her latest drop has been an exciting journey, especially for her Tygers (a name for her fanbase).
Tyla posted this preview of her song ART on Instagram, encouraging listeners to go and stream the new song.

Many Instagram users took to the comment section to share words of encouragement.
One user said: “I heard. And if I had to summarise this album in one word, it would be ‘Mermaid’. I know it’s a rather peculiar description, but, wow! It’s as if each note were a wave of the sea, enveloping you and carrying you to another world… It’s simply delightful, Tyla! I’m submerged.”
Another user used her famous tagline saying, “WHAT THE HECK!!”
