The restaurant industry’s ‘open secret’ of exploiting their workforce was recently brought to light with Babel restaurant at the centre of the controversy after a worker exposed them for a few inconsistencies. Months later, an unsuspecting internet user, Kopano Moagi has faced immense backlash after a ‘harmless’ visit to the infamous Babel restaurant.
The brave act of internet user Mihlali Nobavu sharing her traumatic and unfortunate experience with working at Babel Restaurant opened a can of worms for the restaurant industry as it was revealed, through multiple raids by the Hawks alongside the Department of Home Affairs. Since then, several South African users have condemned these restaurants, and have gone to the extent of boycotting these problematic institutions known to take advantage of their employees.
Internet user Kopano Moagi has become the target of an angry mob of mzansi users after she innocently shared a series of images of her trip to Babel. However, the reaction her post garnered was not what she expected as she was shocked to find an angry mob of users calling her out for supporting the problematic franchise known to exploit their workers.

Most users who called Kopani out highlighted the need to unite together against these institutions to bring about any effective change, instead of people treating this as a personal issue. According to these users, standing up against these institutions is to act as a collective, similar to massive resistance movements such as the Liberation Struggle
Babel? I don’t think this generation knows how to stand up for anything and actually mean it. 😂 https://t.co/qENvpbRqnV
