South African actress and media personality Vatiswa Ndara has opened up about her suicide attempt, and her tell all book, titled Unfiltered.
The former Home Affairs actress sat down with King David on his podcast shortly after the release of her book.
During her interview on the King David’s podcast the veteran actress went into details about her struggles after laying a sexual complaint against a colleague and the mixture she drank in an attempt to kill herself.
“I took Jeyes Fluid, Handy Andy, pills and Jik. So you can imagine when the contents wanted to come out,” she said.
She said that after leaving the SABC, she also lost other acting gigs because of the scandal.
“I knew this was going to do it, there was no way I was going to survive with all these pills and everything I drank. I remember that day I cleaned the house, I cleaned before I did all this so at least people come to a clean place,” she said.
According to EWN’s reports the actress pleaded with Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa to intervene in the unfair treatment of actors, in 2019.
However, Ferguson Films responded to the allegations saying they were misguided, and misleading, and sought to tarnish its reputation.
The report said that the production company also claimed Ndara wanted to be paid R700 000 for a five-week project, but they could not afford it and tried to negotiate with the actress.
“They made it very clear that Ms Ndara would not accept anything less than R700,000 for the five-week shoot. She absolutely had every right to decline our offer, which she did, and we, on the other hand, as we could not meet her financial demand due to contractual restraints, had every right to move on amicably, which we tried to do,” the report quoted Ferguson Films as saying.
