Singer Vusi Nova recently shared an update on his close friend Bulelwa ‘Zahara’ Mkutukana’s health condition after she was rushed to hospital due to liver complications.
It has been almost two weeks since the singer was taken to hospital following her 36th-year birthday celebration. ZiMoja reported that Zahara was admitted to a medical ward, but when her condition worsened, she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) section of a private Johannesburg hospital.
Vusi shared with ZiMoja that he last spoke to Zahara approximately two days before her hospital admission. He said, “She was okay, doing perfectly fine. We were sorting out details for a gig in Mozambique and she was looking forward to it and then this happened.” He added that there were no signs of ill health and that she was “her usual self.”
Vusi continued, “Knowing that she is lying there helpless hurts. I have been going to see her every day. Days are not the same. Some days she is fine, getting better, and some days I leave there crying… Bulelwa is very out there, bossy, vibrant, expressive. To see her in that light is frustrating for me.”
Zahara’s family released a statement on Instagram on 27 November to also share with fans the condition of her health while also asking for their continued support and prayers.
They also stressed in the statement, “Any reliable information regarding Zahara’s health will be communicated via her official social media platforms or by herself.”
