A sobbing Makhadzi recently went live on her social media stories to clear her name, after she was named as one of the artists who wrongfully benefited from government funds of the ministry of Sports Arts and Culture.
While Makhadzi addressed many things on her live, her name coming up as a beneficiary of the Department Sports Arts and Culture made her very emotional.
This implication comes shortly after the newly appointed Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie shared that gave instruction to release all artists, and sports people who benefited from the department funds.
I have given an instruction that a list be published of all Artist, Creatives & Sports people who have been receiving money from the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture be published inclusive of amounts & reasons. The time where only a select connected few benefit is over.

Touching on the subject after it was shared that the department had mentioned her as one of their beneficiaries, an emotional Makhadzi shared:
“They must not cover up people’s names using must name.”
She also shared that she was receiving many calls from “big people” who were asking her not to comment on the matter before saying she can’t keep quiet and watch her name being dragged in the mud.
“I must do what, I must stop talking, I must not respond reply to and protect people who manipulate the whole public, using my name, lying saying I got money?”
She went further to say if they wanted to block her and her music on TV and radio it was ok adding that she’d upload her music on YouTube and Spotify for her fans.
Getting more emotional, Makhadzi shared that she was betraying those who asked her to not respond as she promised them she would keep quiet, “I can’t allow to trend the whole South Africa whereas the people are waiting for the people who were eating money to be revealed. People are failing to reveal names they are starting with me.”
Makhadzi shared that those who had her name on the list were taking advantage of her as they knew she was a quiet person.
The Movie hitmaker added that she works hard for the money she got for her performance at the presidential inauguration.
“Even now they are calling Β … they must reveal the real people who ate the money for the department. They must reveal the people who were funded, unlawfully. If I have to die for this, I must die, it’s ok,” said the Limpopo-born singer crying.
