Our June cover star, content creator and MC Sipho Alphi Mkhwanazi left many social media users in stitches when he re-created President Cyril Ramaphosa’s circulating phone call made after the Springboks won their fourth Rugby World Cup in France.
In the video, the hilarious TikToker pretends to be on a call with the president who was in Paris to watch the Boks lift up the cup on a back-to back- win against the All Blacks. The president’s original conversation seems to have been with someone who speaks isiXhosa or isiZulu as he articulated in a mix of these similar languages.
Alphi’s rendition of the phone call by the President:
“The boys have worked hard.”
To which Alphi responded saying:
“Hey, bab’u Ramaphosa your work is beautiful, how was the stress”?
The president responded:
“Yhuuu, my heart nearly stopped.”
The content creator and events host responded by laughing adding that his high blood went up as he kept praying for the boys. The two then began laughing.
Alphi added:
“I am now about to get up, I promised Ox (Retshegofaditswe Tsego Nché) a cake, I promised I’d bake him a cake. Etzebeth and Siya are asking why I don’t make some for them, I’m thinking that we also host a braai seeing you said it’s a holiday tomorrow. You said it will be a holiday, right? (referring to the president’s promise to look into October, 30th being a public holiday should the Boks win the WC)?”
The president burst out in laughter, and so did the comedian. He finished off by asking them to come back adding that he is waiting for them.
The hilarious well co-ordinated video gained almost 60 ooo likes and almost 4000 comments on Instagram with many people giving props to our cover star for his creativity.
