Slain Rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes also known as AKA, shined as the biggest winner at the 17th Metro FM Music Awards which took place at the Mbombela Stadium, Mpumalanga, on Saturday evening.
AKA, who was nominated in six categories, scooped four awards, including Artist of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Artist.
The family was excited by the win though still mourning their son. The awards were received by his daughter Kairo Forbes, and his parents Lynn and Tony Forbes.
While accepting the award on stage, the late rapper’s daughter sang one of AKA’s songs and the grandparents appreciated the organisation and the people’s support.

Many of AKA’s fans were left emotional after seeing his daughter on stage and singing his songs.
Speaking to SowetanLIVE Tony Forbes said: “We came here hoping that he will win one or two because Supa Mega is just Supa Mega. But we got more. I know he is watching where he is and he is happy like us. In fact, he is proud of the work he put in. The awards that really make me proud includes the Best Hip-Hop Artist and Artist of The Year.”
Lynn Forbes who is also known as Glammy said the following while speaking to the publication: “Kiernan honey, you have come full circle today. You won your first Metro FM Music Awards in this province. Even then, he was among the most winners of the night. Even today the same happens.”
The late rapper who was killed on the 10th of February won Best Male Artist, Best Collaboration, and Best Hip Hop Artist.
