‘We only have one president and that’s president Zuma,’ says Duduzile Zuma

It seems that the latest Constitutional Court ruling that former president Jacob Zuma cannot represent his party Umkhonto Wesizwe (MKP) in parliament for five years following his 2021 prison sentence, has not shaken his daughter Duduzile Zuma, as she refuses to back down from the party’s original plan.

The father to more than 20 kids was sentenced to 15 months in prison in 2021. He severed two months of his sentence and was released on medical parole.

After an order made by the Supreme Court for him to return to finish his sentence term, Msholozi returned on the day the president was granting prisoners remission of sentence and was one of the recipients.

Following careful scrutiny of section 47 (1) of the Constitution, which stipulates that an offender who has been sentenced to 12 months or more, may not be a member of the National Assembly until five years have passed since his/her sentencing, the judges came to the conclusion that Msholozi cannot be a member of parliament.

Many people have been asking who will lead MK now that the former president has been barred from parliament for a few years and Dudu seems to have answered them.

Sharing a front-page headline from local publication City Press that reads, “Who will lead MK in Parly (parliament).” Duduzile responded to the post sharing:

“Cadres, they are trying to cause confusion…thina we are not confused, we only have one president and that’s President Zuma, no roman-dutch law or constitutional court will dictate to us!”
