One of South Africa’s favourite duo, Dr Musa Mthombeni and Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni are nothing short of couple goals!
The Miss South Africa 2015 title holder caught the former YoTV presenter’s eye when a friend – Dr Nokukhanya Khanyile-Lenake – posted Liesl on her Instagram Story. “I commented on this story with a ? and sent @dr_khanyile a voice note highlighting my utter excitement for this post. Within the hour I sent @liesllaurie a sweet innocent message and as they say….. the rest is history,” said Dr Musa in an Instagram post a year after.

They are public yet private
The couple announced their engagement on 27 June 2021 and tied the knot a month later. Although they share most of their lives on social media, they are still able to maintain a level of privacy. For example, they were able to keep the fact that they were dating a secret until their engagement.

Whether it be through travel or attending events, the Mthombeni couple continue to make long-lasting memories. Liesl and Dr Musa recently returned from a trip to New York, a city they have visited before.
“It’s over. It’s done. New York was incredible and is just one of those cities you have to keep going back to because it has so much to offer. Check out our last few days in the city! Now that the money is finished, it will never see us again! We are done!” wrote Liesl in an Instagram post.

The couple also visited Bali, Indonesia, in July, documenting their time there while celebrating 23 months of married life.
