Rumours regarding Zozi Tunzi’s absence at Miss SA have been circulating the internet, but what was the actual reason behind the media personality’s lack of attendance at the pageant?
The primary rumour going around states that Zozi Tunzi didn’t attend the Miss SA pageant following a supposed dispute over wardrobe expenses, according to The South African.
ZiMoja reported that Zozi was allegedly expected to cover all her wardrobe costs for the Miss SA reality TV show Crown Chasers.
The former Miss South Africa had also recently unfollowed Miss SA on Instagram.
While numerous Miss SA alumni, such as Tamryn Green, Cindy Nel, Tansey Coetzee, and Melinda Bam, attended the pageant finale on Sunday, 13 August, Zozi Tunzi did not.
Along with unfollowing Miss SA on Instagram and not attending the pageant entirely, Zozi Tunzi also hadn’t posted anything about Miss SA, which had even more people asking questions.
Regarding the dress cost dispute, a source close to ZiMoja confirmed these rumours. The anonymous source said: “That was not part of our agreement. I was working as a stylist for the show, I was not brought in by Zozi, and now I am being asked to invoice her.” Further according to the aforementioned publication, Zozi’s manager, Tumi Moema, confirmed the dress dispute. He said: “Zozi has nothing to do with the payment of the stylist. That was not our agreement. I will take it up with them.”
According to a statement requested by The South African, the Miss South Africa Organisation stated that they cannot speak to Zozi’s busy schedule nor social media activity, and that she’s always welcome to join any Miss South Africa event.
The statement also said: “The Miss South Africa Organisation entered into a comprehensive contract with Ms Tunzi and her management in respect of her services for Crown Chasers and she has been paid in full accordingly. We hope that any issues her wardrobe suppliers may be having with her management in this regard are resolved soonest.”
