The much anticipated movie The Honeymoon is finally here!
This adventure comedy takes us into the world of three strong female friendships. When Kat gets dumped the night before her wedding, her best friends, Noks and Lu rally together to make good use of her honeymoon in Zanzibar.
Each character has a unique personality that makes the trio a perfect match.
Kat who deals with becoming herself and stepping into her power with her career. Lu who wants to make changes in her marriage, through fixing things that aren’t working and lastly Noks the party animal who’s chasing fame instead of using her talents.
BONA had a chance to speak to the lead character about her role.
Kajal Bagwandeen who plays Kat said that many women can find themselves in the three characters.
The Honeymoon actress revealed that characters played by Minnie Dlamini who is Lou along with Tumi Morake who plays Noks were already casted hence why they did not have to audition.
“So ironically Kate, Lu and Noks were casted already. So when it comes to the lead cast Bianca had me in mind already. I was always going to be Kat. And with Minnie and Tumi we had worked with them before and we loved her and wanted to work with them again. And we were looking for a homegirl meaning someone from KZN and Minnie was a no brainer,” said Kajal while speaking to BONA.
Kajal wants the audience to walk out of the movie theatre feeling a sense of self believe and a want to be your authentic self.
“So I think it is self believe and to want to be authentically yourself. And for me my character Kat she seems to place her worth in external things as opposed to within herself, so ironically when people watch the trailer and think this is a rawkus chick flick, yes it is! However, there is a very deep element to it, which everyone sort of relates to and a lot of it has to do with you being authentically yourself even for those who are married,” Kat added.
