YFM’s 2021 #BeTheNext competition winner Mncedisi Sindane has reportedly been fired from the station after pulling a no-show.
According to ZiMoja, sources close to management at the radio station shared that Mncedisi, who presented the graveyard shift, put the programming in auto-play with no links.
The source reportedly stated, “He knew how to manipulate the system to play music in his absence while he was partying or chilling at home,” adding, “Whistleblowers blew his cover behind his back.”
The radio bosses were reportedly not too pleased with Mncedisi invoicing them for a job he was allegedly not doing and fired him with immediate effect.
Another source shared with the publication mentioned above that the radio presenter was allegedly emotionally and physically tired between running his side hustles, his studies and having to do the graveyard shift.
“He loves his job, there is no way he would just jeopardise it like that. There is more to that story than meets the eye,” noted the source.
A few social media users on X (formerly known as the app Twitter) saw Mncedisi’s move as innovative rather than sly.
One person stated, “It seems this is an innovation (Please Call Me type vibe). Interesting.”
Idk… but from reading this tweet alone…. it seems this is an innovation?? (please call me type vibe) … interesting 👀💔

“Was he not entertaining the listeners? If no, then they have every right to fire, but if yes, then he must take them to court. He delivered on his mandate and I’m sure listeners were happy. It’s called Work Programming,” commented another person.
