One of South Africa’s most decorated musicians is celebrating a milestone birthday, but instead of making the day all about her, she has decided to use it to honour those who are less fortunate.
After several years in the music industry and producing countless soulful hits like Who’s Got the Power and From Me To You, the gorgeous talent that is Yvonne has been at the forefront of inspiring and bringing hope at times when our country needed it the most. This has seen her reaching great heights in her musical career while receiving support from all over the world.
In celebration of turning 60 years old, the singer has now partnered with Shoprite Sixty60 to give back to the people who have supported her throughout her career, the elderly from her hometown of Soweto.
The Princess of Africa, as she is affectionately known in collaboration with the retailer delivered grocery items to 100 households in the community.

Speaking about why this was important to her, the singer said:
“I wanted to honour the people and the place that shaped me by giving back, and it is very fitting to do so in partnership with a brand like Shoprite.
“They’ve been a part of our community since Soweto’s first mall opened in my neighbourhood of Dobsonville three decades ago,” said Chaka Chaka.
The singer later hosted a private birthday party where she celebrated the past six decades of her life surrounded by family and friends.
