It doesn’t look like the late award-winning afro-soul singer Bulelwa “Zahara” Mkutukana’s name will be out of people’s mouths anytime soon, as more news is resurfacing concerning her estate, her husband and her family.
Zahara, who was loved by many for her ability to heal through her music sadly left this earth on the 11th of December 2023, after a short hospital stay, leaving many music lovers in shock.
It is now alleged that the singer’s family sold some of her furniture after they were about to vacate her house after being evicted for their inability to pay bond repayments.
Local publication Sunday World spoke with a friend who confirmed that they were contacted by the Ndizalise hitmaker’s sisters who told them of the furniture that was on sale.
“They are selling absolutely everything without even consulting her elders at home. That furniture is way too expensive for what they are selling it for. They really just don’t care about her legacy,” the friend told the publication.
The publication shares that some of the furniture being sold includes a TV and TV stand, a fridge, tables, couches, side tables, a fridge, a bar area and other items.
The news of Zahara’s furniture sale was confirmed by the singer’s close cousin and former manager who told the publication that he had heard through his former clients that her sisters were selling Zahara’s furniture.
He added, “Old clients called asking me what was happening and why we were selling her furniture. I was not aware of what was happening. And I just told them I have not been active and I have removed myself from her affairs since the sisters took over.”
The publication also contacted the singer’s close friend Vusi Nova who knew about the sister’s moving out of the singer’s home but added that he was shocked to learn about the furniture sale as he last spoke with her sister a few days back, “I am always there for the stuff that they need and for the parents but they did not tell me anything about selling furniture. I am so shocked about what you are telling me. I didn’t know,” said the Thandiwe hitmaker.
