
Actor Zakhele Mabasa-Mokone popularly known for his portrayal of Skhaleni Mngumezulu in Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Isibaya makes a comeback on screens.
This is after Zakhele scored a lead role as Fana on a new Showmax comedy series One Weeks alongside Sihle Ndaba who will portray Lihle.
Speaking to the news and entertainment publication, Sunday World about his new role in the series Zakhele said, “A lot of things have been quite stressful. And I just believe that now is the time that people enjoy some feel-good, family-oriented content like One Weeks. We will always be confronted with problems. Now is the time to really sit back and laugh at ourselves and what we as a society go through. Sihle added that the cast of the series is amazing and the storyline is beautiful and relatable. One Weeks is such a feel-good show.”
Created and produced by Chris Q. Radebe who previously produced Icala and Isifiso, the comedy series is a family situational comedy about Fana, a charming high-school dropout from the streets of Soweto, who can’t believe his luck when he finds himself dating Lihle- a very successful lawyer.
He then has to rely on the help of Lihle’s sharp-witted 10-year-old daughter, Angie (played by Aluta Mthembu), to avoid losing her to a rich man.
The comedy also stars Siphiwe Mtshali known for characters he portrayed on Entangled and Tsha Tsha and Mpho Malatsi known from Backstage and Scandal!.
Zakhele shared the trailer of One Weeks on his Instagram page which will premier on Showmax on the 22nd of July, airing new episodes every Monday.
