Zameka makes musical return after lengthy absence

After a long silence due to a hiatus, the renowned singer Zameka Nkumanda, known as the ‘Drum Queen of the 90s’, returns to inspire mzansi with her soulful melodies.

It has been a while since devoted fans of the singer had the privilege of listening to her angelic voice, but as of this year, things are about to take a big turn she promises. Despite being a few weeks into 2025, Zameka has already grabbed the year by its horns as she recently released her comeback single called, Qinisela.

Inspired by a plethora of household names which includes our very own Thandiswa Mazwai and America’s Jill Scott, one can almost be certain that Zameka’s new song will leave you with goosebumps.

Speaking to the news and entertainment publication TshisaLive, the singer explains that the lyrical depth of their music is what has played an important role in the direction of her own musical journey and the kind of work she wanted to produce. However, the vibrancy of being exposed to cities like Joburg and Pretoria has ensured that she doesn’t compromise on what is trending and having people move on the dance floor.

Speaking about her journey into the entertainment industry she said, “Music has always been a natural part of my life, but my love for it truly blossomed during my childhood.”

“Growing up in a tavern with a jukebox in the early 2000s meant I was constantly surrounded by music and joyful people. That environment nurtured my passion, and from an early age, I knew music was my calling.” Meanwhile, she is the first to admit that nothing came easy and that she often faced challenges along the way. Despite this, her love for art is what kept her persevering and ultimately led to her comeback.

The Kiki Riki singer encouraged fans to keep an eye out for more music releases throughout the rest of the year.
