
South African actress, Zazi Kunene will soon take the centre stage with her starring role on a new local film, Pheletso which will soon premiere on Showmax.
Zazi, who is renowned for characters she portrayed in Smoke and Mirrors, Generations: The Legacy and Jiva, will portray the character of Nolwazi Bhengu; a resilient young woman from Soweto, who navigates family drama, a secret relationship, and the pressures of being the household’s breadwinner.
Directed by first-time director Zack Mthombeni, this riveting film that promises to keep Mzansi glued on their screens, tells the story of KB, a charming and ambitious young man who seems to have it all – until one wild night lands him in the hospital with almost no recollection of how he ended up there.
Zazi plays opposite a star-studded cast that includes Kay Bhikitsha, Mpho Sibeko, Sekoati Tsubane and Nkosinathi Emanuel Gweva.

Pheletso will premiere on the 13th of March at Nu Metro Hyde Park at 19h30, and will later stream on Showmax from the 18th of April. This film is among other promising titles that were directed by emerging film directors from Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa.
This is after Showmax in partnership with Joburg Film Festival called for first-time directors to showcase their talent, as a result of this call, mzansi will enjoy the unending entertainment stemming from films like Adam, Kites, Bet I Love You, Bobo, Ndingowakho and Perfect Match.
