Fashion events are always top of the social calendar and fashionistas from across the country show up and show off. If this is you and are always looking to mingle with your fellow fashion lovers these are the events for you. If you’re the fashion police, you have your work cut out for you.
L’Ormarins King’s Plate
The first race on the schedule is the L’Ormarins King’s Plate, which will be held this weekend January 7th at the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town. This year’s theme is blue and white, as it was last year. The event features a full day of horse racing, entertainment, fine wines, and a display of vintage cars, in addition to high fashion. Stars don’t hold back when it comes horseracing fashion, although it is advisable to not go overboard as it is a daytime event and you will be doing a lot of walking around. Make sure your shoes aren’t uncomfortable and your train isn’t getting stuck on the grass.

Cotton Fest
Cotton Fest returns to Joburg on February 4th following a successful event in Cape Town last December. This multi-layered lifestyle festival, synonymous with celebrating youth culture, includes a full-day music concert, merchandise, a cafeteria, and a sports area. This is where Joburg’s cool kids can show off their distinct street style. As late founder Riky Rick once said, “sidl’ ukotini” (we eat the cotton) at this event, which means attendees must dress to kill. There are no boundaries at Cotton Fest, come ready to showcase your unique fashion sense.
