She is a woman with many titles – wife, mother, presenter, Laureus ambassador, master of ceremonies, entrepreneur, and now also wine maker.
When you consider the checklist of what it takes to make a powerful woman, Elana Afrika-Brendenkamp has ticked it all.
For her latest adventure, the former Expresso show presenter announced that she will soon be turning her wine-making hobby into a bursary for the less privileged by launching her brand-new wine label called Annabelle Shiraz.
Elana has been in the wine-making industry since moving to Cape Town in 2011 for her job as a presenter on SABC 3’s Expresso show. According to Wine.co.za, the talented radio presenter has always had her ambitions set on learning more about the industry and even launching a brand of her own.
Meanwhile, it did not take her too long to make an impact as her “Elana Wine” won Michelangelo Gold in 2012.
The recent news made public via her Instagram page is a collaboration between her and De Grendel Wines, intended to help fund Sommeliers’ training and mentorship.

“Launching this new label, named after my youngest daughter, is a blessing. Being able to help a previously disadvantaged learner through the support of our wine-buying community is the highest honour for me.”
Elana added that it was important for her to use her talent for good. She adds that creating change is the cornerstone of her upbringing.
“My father always taught us to help where we can, and where we see a need. Winemaking is a hobby for me, but finally, we can help someone through this”
