Eyeglasses greatly influence your appearance, and getting your make-up right can be daunting. Here are some tips for girls who wear glasses.
Make-up artist for Lancôme Andrew James says the thickness of your glasses determines the intensity of your eye make-up. There are no restrictions when it comes to trends and colours for the lips for ladies who wear glasses. But, Andrew says applying blush will warm up the face and soften the glasses. Bold frames will dominate your face if paired with a subtle eye, which will make your eyes disappear.
He advises that you keep a neutral eye when wearing a bright or bold frame
Daytime
A bright and bold lip is the best way to go during the day, paired with a neutral face and eye. The bright lip will soften the face, drawing more attention to your make-up and less to your glasses. Apply a natural tone eyeshadow and shimmer blush on the cheeks to allow your bright lips to be the focal point.
How to:
• Apply foundation onto the face, neck and ears to give your skin a unified matte look.
• Apply golden-brown eyeshadow from the brow bone to the lash line, and highlight only the bottom lash line.
• Apply eyeliner along the inside of the bottom lashes and on the edge of your top lash line.
• Complete the eye area by brushing the lashes with mascara.
• Apply red lipstick (or any bright colour) from the middle of the lips and work outwards to ensure the colour spreads evenly. This will also help prevent the red lipstick from bleeding (applying over the edge of the lips)
Night Time
Step into the night with a smudgy, dark and smoky eye – a great trend that suits any face shape and eye. Andrew says a smoky eye is great for glass wearers because the dark shades will match any spectacle frame, and add character and style to the eyes. Avoid a lengthening mascara to prevent your lashes from smudging your glasses.
How to:
• Dab foundation onto your forehead, nose and cheeks, then spread and blend evenly onto the face for a full coverage.
• Highlight the eyelid from the top lash line to the eyebrows with a neutral shade (brown or gold) eyeshadow.
• Apply a dark shade of eyeshadow on the lash line and along the crease of the eyelid. Blend the dark shade with the base colour to create a smoky eye.
• Apply eyeliner on the top eyelid to create a thick lash illusion, and finish off the look with mascara on the lashes.
• Pair the smoky eye with a clear shade of lip gloss or nude lipstick.
