GALLERY: SAMAs fashion hits and misses

At this year’s South African Music Awards (SAMAs), spectators of the awards ceremony took note at more than just the music, they observed the fashion too and picked out their hits and misses.

The local awards show took place on Saturday, 18 November at SunBet Arena, Times Square, in Pretoria. The venue was filled with local celebrities donning designer fits that wowed social media users as well as having them scratching their heads in confusion over quite a few misses.

One outfit that had the internet confused was that worn by actress Makgotso Monyemorathoe, fondly known as Makgotso M.

Many thought she had not put any effort into her outfit.

YFM radio presenter Ayanda MVP – who rocked a red, yellow and blue outfit – was another guest whose look questioned by social media users.

While one netizen noted that it was a “cute outfit but not for the awards,” another questioned whether or not SA has stylists.

Many felt that the show’s host Nomalanga ‘The Flame’ Shozi was on fire with her pink outfit designed by RethaN.

“Loooooooove loooooove this look,” wrote social media personality Blue Mbombo.

While a social media user wrote, “I love this look! Yes hell yes.”

The late rapper AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes, also graced the awards show with her presence in what one person thought to be an age appropriate outfit. Although, others thought it was more of a costume.

The above user was not the only person to question if the awards show was a costume party.

“Is this year’s theme Haloween at the SAMAs?” they asked.
