Customising your wigs is an important thing to do as someone who loves to wear wigs as it gives a clean installation making it easier to melt.
One thing about owning a wig is that it needs constant monthly maintenance as it could tangle or even dry up if it is not well taken care of.
As someone who loves both synthetic and human hair, I find myself having to constantly check if my wigs are in good condition and with both needing a different kind of care, I have to buy products to maintain it well.
When learning how to do a clean installation one thing hair content creators will stress is to always customise your wig before wearing it you can either buy your hair already customised or do it in the comfort of your home.
I know a lot of questions go through your mind as you might not find it necessary to customise your wig, but according to various hair care hubs, it’s important.
Posh Hair Company gives tips on how you can customise your wigs:
- Work the Hairline: Before starting your customisation process you need to start plucking the hairline to explore the fullness of the hair. The hair company suggests using tweezers or a rat-tail comb to ensure that the process is done smoothly.
- Bleaching the Knots: Bleach the knots during wig customisation to create an illusion of a natural scalp. Match the base surface to the skin tone of your scalp by applying bleach and colour to the inner lace of the wig.
- Wash it Out: Rinse the wig with a purple conditioner and follow your normal wash day routine.
- Work the Hairline (Again): Repeat the same process from the beginning to achieve a more realistic hairline. Wet hair looks different than dry hair, making it easier to manipulate
- Let it Dry: Allow the wig to dry completely, keeping it out of direct sunlight or extreme heat.
- Use Lace Tint Spray: Hold the can about six inches away from the hair to ensure a natural scalp look. Allow the wig to sit before putting it on.
