Applying braids to your hair usually requires one to sit for hours leaving you tired and sometimes experiencing cramps from seating for long periods of time. The joy one feels after braids are done, however, surpasses all the pain endured and time spent creating them.
With just a constant wash and treatment every few weeks, your braids can last you for weeks and even months. Just like putting them on takes time, taking them off also requires one to sit for some time. This process can leave your hair with knots from blending the hair with the fibre in a twisted manner.
We have compiled ways in which you can safely detangle your knots without breaking your hair or feeling a lot of pain as supplied by Naturaloilsforhair.
- After completely taking off your braids, select your hair into 4-6 manageable portions and work out the shed hair thoroughly.
- Heat up some coconut oil then apply it to each section of the hair. First, wait till the oil cools down.
- Start working on the hair with your fingers.
- Rub small sections of your hair between your fingers, loosening the roots and gently working out the lint at the base. Your hair should start to entangle at this point.
- If your hair still feels knotted a bit, do not force out the lint because it will pull out your hair.
- Continue to rub between your fingers until all the dirt and lint is loosened then pull out your fingers.
- Do not use a comb at any point in the process.
