When it comes to summer attire short and minimal fabrics are a must in ensuring that you don’t overheat underneath some of the warmer materials in your cupboard.
It often during this season that we start venturing into outdoor activities such as game drives, hiking, outdoor lunches and beach trips many of which require you to show a bit more skin because of the heat.
However, not everyone is as confident in donning a regular swimsuit as the rest of us. This is because there are many people who find themselves victims to the gruelling reality of having body acne.
According to the medical health publication, WebMed, acne is considered as one of the predominant chronic skin diseases in the world where up to 9.4% of the global population have experienced it at some point in their lives.
“This condition can take on many forms, from mild cases to severe inflammation and cyst formation. To a certain extent, all types of acne involve blockage or inflammation of pilosebaceous units, which are the hair follicles we have all over our bodies,” explains the mentioned publication.
It is further highlighted that body acne is associated by certain lifestyle choices. The severity of it often differs and are influenced by the factors such as age, dietary habits, stress, sleep, weight, menstrual cycle, genetics and drug or alcohol consumption.
While seeking medical assistance from a dermatologist is necessary if the conditions worsen, Cleveland Clinic highlights that there are certain adjustments you can make to ensure ease the severity.
These include:
- Avoiding popping or squeezing pimples.
- Keep your skin clean with an oil free body wash.
- Try tropical creams, gels and cleansers containing Benzoyl peroxide.
- Use clean linens.
