Mamntlane’s granddaughter cries for help in search for a job

The TikTok grandmother, Mamntlane or as her granddaughter calls her, Savelelo, became the internet’s favourite old lady ever since her granddaughter posted a video of her on the social media platform where they were talking about Nelson Mandela and how Savelelo never knew that the former president had died.

Through their presence on TikTok, and the overwhelming support from followers, Savelelo and her granddaughter have had the privilege of bettering their lives. They were able to be moved from the old house they lived in and received a newly built house from the premier of the Eastern Cape, Oscar Mabuyane.

It is evident that things were not as good as we thought they were for the two. As much as we loved seeing them consistently on our “For You Pages” smiling and sharing fun stories, life was not all glitz and glam for Savelelo’s granddaughter.

She recently shared a video on TikTok where we see her crying, with a message pleading for internet users to help her find a job. She captioned the video “Noba ngumsebenzi onjan bethuna ndingamvuyela, ndizamile nakwi business akupopi,” which basically means that she’d be happy to get any kind of job as she has been trying for so long with no luck. She mentions in the caption that she even tried venturing into business but still was unfortunate.

In the message she posted on the videos, she explains that she is on a contract that will end by March and that she needs to raise funds to apply for a short course at SAMTRAC. She also mentions that she tried applying to colleges but wasn’t accepted into any.

TikTok users immediately poured in with messages encouraging her and plugging her with possible opportunities, with others asking her to send them direct messages for further engagement.

“Please share account number mama, so we can try help you raise the amount.”

“Babe send me your CV I’ll try my best to push for you.”

“Nana I am a Safety officer by profession start with doing a She rep course if you do it online it will cost only R890 or less then I ll assist with getting you a job as a She rep.”
