Ever wondered how dresses are made, and if there is any reason behind the concept? Well, businesswoman and South African actress, Nomzamo Mbatha recently took to social media platforms, to share the thought process behind the design of the dress she wore at the Earthshot Prize in Cape Town.
Tagged by Earthshot, the former BONA cover star took to her Instagram page to share the craftmanship of her one-of-a-kind dress.
Captioning the post: “There’s more to this dress than meets the eye. It’s dyed using biological DNA pigments grown in bacteria.
An Earthshot Prize 2023 Finalist- recreates the DNA of colours found in nature to dye fabric. Its tech uses less water, less energy and no toxic chemicals for a cleaner future. Stay tuned to see more of this magical dress at the Awards.”
Nomzamo walked the green carpet donned in a solar citrine garment designed by African designer, Christie Brown. According to the thespian on the clip, this colour is a result of an incredible partnership between the 2023 Earthshot finalist, colorifix and Christie.
