For most men, the ultimate hack to looking good and well-groomed is by having a proper clean shave, by removing all unnecessary facial hair providing you with a smooth finish.
The reality though is that there is a large majority of men who suffer from what is known as sensitive skin, as a result, a normal skin shave can result in continuous breakouts, dark spots, inflamed skin tissue and ultimately affect one’s confidence levels.
While there may be an abundance of remedies available on the market that help to treat one’s damaged skin, it might be pointless to use those products if the bumps are going to return again after your next shave.
This has been my personal experience. For years I found myself ashamed of the condition of my skin around the jaw area, as each time I picked up a razor blade, this was the result. I turned to various techniques such as replacing my razor blade after one use and adding shaving gel to the process, yet the result was still the same. That is until I switched to using an electric shaver.
This had me wondering if electric shavers were the solution to the problem for most men with sensitive skin.
The men’s grooming store Lemes and Tradition states that an important thing to note about the two options is that, when it comes to the razor blade, otherwise known as manual shaving, a lot of emphasis is placed on precision. This means that there is a higher possibility that you will be able to remove some of the tiniest hair.
In contrast, this is not a luxury many get to enjoy when it comes to an electric shaver. This is because the thickness of the blade makes it slightly more difficult to reach the surface of the skin, providing you with a clean finish with micro hair follicles still visible.
In addition to this, the skincare company Cremo recommends that those with sensitive skin make use of an electrical shaver as a safer option.
“Shaving with an electrical shaver could reduce cuts, nicks and ingrown hairs that can often happen with manual razors,” states the above-mentioned source.
As an added benefit, using an electric shaver might cost you more money, however, it is more durable and long-lasting than a manual blade that needs to be replaced after one or two uses.
