Tips to embracing baldness

For some, the process of growing bald can be considered to be one of the most devastating experiences – especially for those who go through it during the earlier years of their lives.

While there may be certain health conditions that could be the cause of it, the more common reason for men who experience this fate often comes as a result of their genetics.

WebMD, a well-known medical information hub, explains that the average human being loses up to 100 strands of hair a day, but after they fall out, they simply grow back in. However, many guys might notice that they are losing more than before and that it is not growing back.

According to WebMD, this is caused by genes you get from your parents.

“Scientists think the gene may affect how sensitive your hair follicles are to a hormone called DHT, which makes them shrink,” explains the above-mentioned source.

“As they get smaller, the hair eventually grows back and tends to be finer, thinner and shorter. Eventually, it takes longer for hair to grow back. Then, the follicles will shrink so that no hair grows at all,” explains WebMD.

But for those faced with the task of going through these experiences, it becomes a lifestyle adjustment, as the hair you used to comb into various styles is no longer there. This may cause some to struggle to adjust to their new look.

Here are a few tips on how you can welcome the new you and embrace your new look:

Experiment with facial hair

The best way to let go of what has been lost is by appreciating that which is still there. Otis Skincare recommends embracing the chance of growing and grooming one’s facial hair.

According to the skincare company, many celebrities have taken this approach and turned out looking well-groomed.

“If you are going for a full beard route, ask your barber to blend it so that there is not a big disconnect between your beard and where the baldness starts.”

Look after your scalp

Due to the scalp now having direct exposure to sunlight, the above-mentioned source recommends putting the same amount of effort you do to your face into your scalp.

This is why it is important to cleanse with a non-drying face wash, exfoliate to get rid of dead skin, and moisturise to keep the scalp hydrated.

Embrace headwear accessories

This is the perfect opportunity to be funky with your fashion sense. Try wearing different hats or caps that blend well with your clothing to elevate your appearance.
