It’s that time again when Durban becomes the centre of attention for the Durban July weekend. Let’s take a look at who filled us with joy and who made our fashion hearts sink at last year’s event:
Bonang Matheba
Queen B glowed in a yellow floor-length gown. Although simple, this look is very memorable.
Lerato Kganyago
Red is a complementary colour on Lerato. This was the first time we saw the sheer and thigh-high trend on the red carpet. She could have done without the hairpiece though, as it does nothing for her overall style.
Mafikizolo
The dynamic duo doesn’t disappoint. Nhlanhla was radiant in brights and tribal print while Theo was dapper in his gear. The only thing that let him down was the choice of shoes.
Jessica Motaung
This is something we would wear to a lunch with the girls as opposed to a fashion-filled event. Jessica could’ve put in a bit more effort.
Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo
The Kumalos make a good match. They brought a touch of elegance and mature style to the event.
Big Nuz
Big Nuz looked as though they were headed for a braai. We understand they are not exactly trendsetters, but the lack of effort is tragic.
Mlu and DJ Ganyani
The only word that comes to mind when looking at the DJs’ outfit choices is fail, so let’s move along swiftly…
SK Khoza and Morna Phatudi
How gorgeous did SK and Morna look? SK was so well put together in plaid and white, while Morna complemented her man’s outfit to a tee in a ladylike navy gown.
Vusi Kunene and Kgomotso Christopher
Vusi was sharp and carried off his gentlemanly style very well. Kgomotso, on the other hand, looked complicated. Her attire looks like something that was worn in the early 2000s.
Dineo Moeketsi
We withhold our thumbs up on this outfit. It was confusing and complicated for no reason. Sorry D, better luck this weekend.
Mbali Mlotshwa and Black Coffee
Mbali was the cream to Black Coffee in a smoking all-white outfit with a hint of faux fur.
Amanda du-Pont
It’s always a little heartbreaking when a bad outfit happens to a pretty woman. Never and never again do we want to see such on Amanda. Fingers crossed for tomorrow’s outfit!
Dream Team
They looked alright in all-white with a touch of home-grown detail to round up the look.
Luthando Shosha
Nooooo King Loot, what went wrong here? This ensemble was so unfortunate, Lootlove always wins when we spot her out and about; but this time we can’t say anything good about her choice. We’ll keep mum.
Jessica Nkosi and Nomzamo Mbatha
Jessica was pretty in pink. We like this lace and silk skirt combo. Nomzamo’s dress, on the other hand, was more suited for a night-time event. We’re not feeling it!
Minnie Dlamini
Yessss girl!! Minnie looked stunning in a sequinned little number and her body was flawless. Love it!
Nandi Mngoma
We’re not fans of Nandi’s outfit choice; she looked too old school Hollywood glam, reminiscent of the 1920s. The style was too mature for her.
Terry Pheto and Mampho Brescia
A resounding NO is all that can be said about these ladies’ outfits. We’re not sure what look they were going for, but it didn’t work.
