2014 sure had its fair share of red carpet moments. We take a trip down memory lane and revisit some of our most-loved looks.
Bonang Matheba
Queen B lived up to her name as she owned the throne at the J&B Met event earlier this year. The gold embellished dress, with the crown to match, oozed royalty, leaving us very eager to see what the rest of her wardrobe was like.
Dineo Moeketsi
The red dress was made for the media personality for the Galaxy of the Stars event. Everything, from the colour to the cut, was perfect. It was glamour to a tee, and hugged her body in all the right places. Thumbs up!
Minnie Dlamini
Minnie gave us just enough tease in this all-black number with sheer detail, which she wore to the MTV Africa Music Awards. The dress fit her like a glove and the sheer skirt showed off her legs in a flirtatious yet classy manner.
Pearl Thusi
The Cape definitely trended on the red carpet this year. The printed version that Pearl wore was absolutely stunning and provided just enough drama to make it to our list. The overall look was well balanced, subtle and fresh.
Nomzamo Mbatha
Nomzamo looked like an African queen in this tribal print ensemble at the SA Fashion Week. We didn’t see a lot of this print on the carpet this year, so it was refreshing to spot it on a local celeb. Nomzamo looked vibrant, and the dark lip was also a winner.
Lerato Kganyago
This socialite was a vision in all-white at an Woolies event, making this undoubtedly our favorite Lerato look of the year. The dress was youthful and fun, and her legs looked absolutely amazing!!
Lalla Hirayama
Lalla was a woman after our hearts in this floor-length gown she wore for the last semi-final of SA’s Got Talent. She looked sophisticated and glamorous. What we loved about it was that she was not overpowered by the dress, but carried it off gracefully. Everything about this outfit was magical.
Khanyi Mbau
Khanyi gave us all shades of fierce in this orange suit at the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards. A woman who can pull off androgyny and still look sexy is a true fashionista. She was effortless and ticked every box on how to make an impression without trying too hard. Nice one Khanyi! #werk
Denise Zimba
Denise gets a mention for showing us that she doesn’t need to be revealing to look good. The black and gold ensemble she wore to the Loerie Awards was very feminine, and we loved to see her appropriately dressed for a red carpet event! Hopefully, in future we’ll get to see more of her like this as we quite like the softer side of Miss Zimba.
Boity
Boity showed us a more playful side to her fashion sense earlier this year at the J&B Met event. All the colours gelled so well and the turban gave the playsuit a chic twist. We really like it when our celebs get it right and Boity was winning in this ensemble.
