Our features writer Fundiswa Nkwanyana tells us about her weekend away at the newly opened upmarket hotel in Umhlanga, KwaZulu Natal.
As soon as I walked through the reception doors, I knew that I was in a five star hotel because I was captivated by the hotel’s futuristic and sophisticated décor that exudes class and comfort. My son Oratile and I were welcomed by friendly staff members who offered us welcome juice and placed our luggage in a trolley before we were escorted to our room.

Ambiance
The open plan setting enticed me to explore the facilities without a guided tour because from the reception desk, I got a glimpse of the hotel’s inviting restaurant that overlooks the pool and relaxing area. I loved that even when my son was running around the hotel, I could easily spot him because all the areas are interlinked. The views from the hotel rooms and the swimming pool are so breathtakingly beautiful and calming.
The Luxury Studio Room
The self-catering room is impeccably decorated with modern and quality furniture which is extremely comfortable. It has a modern fully equipped kitchen, en- suite bathroom with luxury guest amenities. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the sunset over the beach. I also appreciated surfing the internet with the room’s complimentary Wi-Fi.

At Leisure
Dining – The hotel’s in-house restaurant served a scrumptious breakfast spread and I particularly enjoyed the omelette that the chef made me. It was so delicious. I loved that they also serve kid friendly meals. The hotel is located in an upmarket shopping centre which is home to 16 restaurants serving a variety of cuisines.
Swimming – I loved that I had an option to swim in the hotel’s pool or at the beach which is a five minute walk away. I enjoyed lounging on the comfortable chairs by the swimming pool which had waitrons that were eager to ensure that I was comfortable. The short walk to the beach was safe as it’s alongside restaurants and holiday makers.
This newly opened establishment is going to shake things up in Umhlanga’s hospitality sector as it fresh, stylish and luxurious. It’s definitely worth a visit.
