Common mistakes to avoid if you want perfect pancakes

Who doesn’t love a perfect pancake?

Pancakes are a thin, flat, round cake made from a batter that is typically made of flour, eggs and milk.

Pancakes can be sweet or savoury, and they are typically cooked on a griddle or in a frying pan. They are often served for breakfast or brunch, and they can be topped with a variety of ingredients such as butter, syrup, fruit, whipped cream, or savoury toppings like bacon and eggs.

Pancakes are a popular dish all over the world and can vary in their preparation and presentation depending on the culture and region.

Here are some common mistakes to avoid if you want to make perfect pancakes:

  • Overmixing the batter: Overmixing the batter can make the pancakes tough and chewy. Mix the batter until the ingredients are just combined.
  • Using cold ingredients: Use room temperature ingredients to ensure that the batter mixes together evenly.
  • Not letting the batter rest: Let the batter rest for a few minutes before cooking to allow the flour to absorb the liquid and to make the pancakes fluffier.
  • Using a hot pan: Use a medium-low heat to cook the pancakes. A hot pan will burn the pancakes and leave them undercooked in the middle.
  • Adding too much batter: Use a measuring cup or a ladle to pour the batter onto the pan. Adding too much batter will result in thick, uneven pancakes.
  • Flipping the pancake too soon: Wait until the pancake starts to bubble before flipping it. Flipping too soon will cause the pancake to break apart.
  • Pressing down on the pancake: Avoid pressing down on the pancake while it’s cooking. This will make it dense and less fluffy.
  • Not greasing the pan: Use a nonstick cooking spray or butter to grease the pan before cooking. This will prevent the pancakes from sticking to the pan.

By avoiding these common mistakes, you’ll be on your way to making perfect pancakes every time!
