A hairstyle that can bring out your fun and vibrant side is the pixie haircut. Gail Mabalane is SA’s own Halle Berry when it comes to this short, fresh hairstyle that started in the 1950s. The short sides and back, with a longer top hairdo, can be styled – and it can be an accessory to your outfit during the day or night.
Here are some tips on copying this style.
Step 1
Your natural hair colour will determine where to start when choosing another shade. If your hair has a sun kissed brown edge opt for lighter colours and if it’s black, use dark shades. Make sure you base your hairline with petroleum jelly so the hair dye doesn’t colour your skin.
Step 2
Styling and shaping your hair is an art and takes a lot of skill to achieve, so do not cut your own hair. A professional hair dresser would cut your hair best into a pixie cut. The sides and back will be shorter than the top.
Step 3
Using a hair straightener or tong, curl your hair (The curls must face outwards) starting from front to back of your head.
Tip
- Avoid using oil moisturiser as its heavy on the hair and the hairstyle will not last as long as it would is you used a lighter product.
- A hair serum or light oil sheen will keep your hair healthy and your hairstyle will last longer.
