If you ever find yourself in pain, no need to go straight to the pills and ointments. Instead, go to nature, as it has provided many foods to help reduce the pain you may experience.

WebMD proves a list of six foods you can use to help your sore body.

Blueberries

This fruit has a lot of phytonutrients that may fight inflammation and lessen pain. If you are a fan of frozen blueberries, this has the same, if not more nutrients than fresh.

Extra virgin olive oil

This type of oil may relieve joint pain when used topically. Extra virgin olive oil also contains a compound called oleocanthal that has anti-inflammatory properties. When cooking with the oil, make sure that you stick to low temperatures so that you don’t lose any of its many benefits.

Mint

Peppermint oil does a lot to relieve pain – it relieves painful cramps, gas, and bloating that is linked to irritable bowel syndrome. Consuming peppermint tea will also help to soothe an upset tummy, while Brazilian mint tea has been as effective as a prescription painkiller.

Ginger

Ginger is best known for its anti-nausea and stomach-soothing properties. Some research also suggests that it aids in menstrual pain.

Turmeric

The compound found in turmeric that gives it its bright orange-yellow colour has the ability to affect several processes in your body, including inflammation.

Chilli peppers

Capsaicin, an active component found in chillis, is known for its painkilling properties. Early research has also suggested that eating hot peppers, instead of putting them on your skin, may reduce and prevent inflammation.
