When it comes to spending time in the gym, there is much more that goes into planning your workout than simply lifting weights. A proper gym training program should allow you to get your body in the best possible shape so your mobility can be enhanced resulting in a functional lifestyle during your leisure.

This is why it is important that you get into the habit of incorporating mobility training into your gym routine, this will not only allow you to easily move from one point to another but can be beneficial for increasing speed in the lives of athletes.

The fitness publication Evo highlights that mobility training, “combines mobility exercises that increase the range of movements and motions your body can perform. These include flexibility, but also balance, pliability, and strength. The full combination is the best way to avoid injury.”

However, the above-mentioned publication also highlights that one should not go full swing into exercise, but rather slowly transition into it by focusing on one or two body parts at a time.

The benefits of mobility exercises include the following:

  • Promotes good posture.
  • Helps prevent knots and injuries.
  • Relieves tension associated with sedentary lifestyles or over-exercising.
  • Improves all-round functional fitness performance.
  • Increases range of movement, helping us stay active and healthy longer in life.

To see the benefits of this it is therefore important to start incorporating the following explosive exercises into your training program as recommended by Healthline. This will allow you to move better and gain more speed for your next sporting event.

Hill Sprints

Box Jumps
