Self-care and well-being have become very important in our generation to the point where people make wellness fashionable and viral. This is a beautiful sight to witness because taking care of ourselves holistically, from physical health to our mental well-being is what makes us live happier and purposeful lives.
TikTok is known for being a huge platform with a great influence on people of all ages and ethnicities. Throughout the year, there have been plenty of trends from all over the world, trends that aim to advise and encourage people to live better and be mindful of their health in the process.
Let’s have a look at some of the influential wellness trends that took over social media:
Ice baths
I know a few people who have felt the pressure of getting into ice baths because someone in TikTok posted about it claiming that it is beneficial for your mental health and physical pain. This is not all false because according to the Health publication, ice baths can help relieve pain by narrowing blood vessels and increasing blood circulation to tissues and muscles. They are believed to also reduce muscle soreness, improve muscle recovery, and boost mood and alertness.

Being mindful and demure
I’m pretty sure a lot of us have come across a video or the sound of someone telling us to be demure and mindful of just about everything. The main point behind this life hack which was first heard of through TikTok content creator, @joolieannie, although it was mostly based on how girlies must be mindful of how they look, I believe the aim is to encourage people to go about life gracefully and without drawing too much attention to themselves in whatever they do. It gives you a sense of contentment and pride, knowing that you don’t need to do too much to prove your worth or be influential. This has a great impact on a person’s mental stability.

Squatting while dancing
This trend had internet users at their toes when Nkululeko Dlamini, better known for his TikTok handle, Nyawolomshini decided to up the squatting game and have people dance while doing squats. It is no surprise that Nkululeko is regarded as the ‘King Of Squats’ because to be honest, there is yet one to come who squats like he does. Healthline mentions that this exercise strengthens the lower body, targeting the glutes and quadriceps, and uses core muscles. Squats are said to benefit hip muscles, calves, hamstrings, and oblique, as well as helping to burn calories, help lose weight, and reduce the risk of knee and ankle injuries by strengthening leg muscles.
