1. Get moving
You don’t need to go to a gym nor fit in with a schedule of classes. If you’re a working mom, get walking during your lunch hour – you’ll be extra-refreshed and alert when you return to your desk.
2. A few minutes is all you need
A 30 minutes brisk walk five days a week will help you lose weight, boost your fitness and strengthen your heart.
3. Find a space that relaxes you
Walking in a park or green space can help reduce depression and raise self-esteem.
4. Don’t forget your tummy
You’ll get the best results if you tighten your tummy muscles while you’re walking. This will help you walk up straight, and help your breathing too. Exercise isn’t the only way to achieve this though. You can also try the new Milady’s WonderFit denim which has a tummy control feature. The high – rise design and clever stitching in the front pockets slims from within, flattening the tummy and flattering the curves. And best of all it’s available in slimming colours like blue, black and mid wash.
6. Walking isn’t just about your legs
Workout your arms by swinging them as you walk to tones the muscles in your arms, shoulders and upper back.
7. Invest in proper walking shoes
When you’re trying them on, make sure that your toes have room to wiggle and that your heels don’t slip. Choose a shoe that’s lightweight and flexible.
8. Track your progress
Keep a journal that has your daily workout to see how you have improved.
9. Keep things interesting
Walk different routes every day.
10. Vary your pace and the landscape
Hills may seem intimidating, but they’ll work your glutes and burn more calories, while sprint walking between landmarks will add to variety and alleviate boredom too.
11. Find a friend to walk with
If you’re feeling isolated, walking time could be a great way to catch up with your partner or close friend without any other distractions.
